Frequently Asked Questions

A porch is a larger, often covered outdoor area extending from a building, providing space for seating or relaxation. A stoop is smaller, typically consisting of steps and a platform leading to a door, mainly serving as an entryway.

A stoop should generally be at least 36 inches deep to provide enough space for comfortable entry. This allows for easy movement and accessibility at the entrance of a building. Local building codes may have specific requirements, so it's best to check those as well.

Standard stoop sizes can vary, but typically they measure about 36 to 48 inches deep and 60 to 84 inches wide. The height usually aligns with residential construction code, often around 7 to 8 inches per step, with an average of 2 to 3 steps. Always check local building codes for specifics.

Stoops can be built in various styles, such as traditional brick or stone stoops, wooden stoops with railings, concrete stoops, or modern metal designs. They can be straight or wrap-around, with or without handrails, and customized with decorative elements like planters or tiles.

After the job started, we decided to add our side steps along the side of our house. Their team was professional and courteous to work with. After each day of work, John and Miles touched base with us to see if we were happy with the progress. After the job was complete, we decided to have All Paving & Masonary LI to change oue existing retaining wall garden on the other side of our house to match the new pavers and retaing wall that was just completed.
